( KRON ) — Niner Faithful will get an up-close look at two of the team’s best players in an upcoming
Netflix special. A new series, “Receiver,” will feature five star pass-catchers, including Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. The series is a follow-up to “Quarterback,” which Netflix debuted in 2023. That show provided a closer look at three
NFL quarterbacks, including Patrick Mahomes, by providing footage from the players’ lives on the field and at home. Executive producer Peyton Manning, who is also a former NFL star, said Netflix was having a hard time finding quarterbacks who wanted to be on the show. Months later, Netflix announced “Receiver.” “We were thrilled last summer to see audiences all over the world diving into the lives of NFL quarterbacks,” NFL Films supervising producer Joe Zucco told Netflix. “We believe the extraordinary skills, dedication, and passion of the NFL’s great wide receivers — and one tight end — will make a perfect follow-up.” The five players who will be featured on “Receiver” are: “As we did with Quarterback , we look forward to telling the stories of five incredible receivers, each with their unique personality, skill set, and motivation for what drives them to be the best,” Manning said. Kittle, who is technically a tight end, is coming off his fourth All-Pro season and has been with the 49ers since 2017. Off the field, he has a boisterous personality and is a noted wrestling fan. Samuel has played five seasons with the 49ers and established himself as one of the league’s most versatile players. He is known for leading the 49ers’ famous boombox walkout with left tackle Trent Williams. The “Receiver” series will be eight episodes, and Netflix did not provide a release date.
