(BCN) — FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel will meet with public safety officials in Santa Clara County on Monday to address the agency’s upcoming vote to restore net neutrality. Net neutrality is the principle that internet service providers must treat all data equally and prohibit blocking or slowing down services on their networks. It was repealed during the
Trump Administration. The FCC said Rosenworcel chose the Bay Area meeting to highlight an incident involving the Santa Clara County
fire Department, which found its internet access throttled while responding to the 2018 Mendocino Complex Fire, the largest wildfire in state history. Rosenworcel will hold a roundtable discussion with Santa Clara County Fire Chief Suwanna Kerdkaew, public safety officials, public interest groups, and technology experts, the agency said. The commission is expected to vote on final net neutrality rules in late April. Copyright © 2024 Bay City News, Inc.
