While concentration for Erik ten Hag and
Manchester United his team will be on bouncing back from the disappointment of their last result, work in the background will be going on around the upcoming transfer window, as the club continue to be linked with players. There is still some uncertainty over the long-term future of ten Hag, plans will be in place for the summer, with or without the Dutchman. That will include players that the club could target when the window re-opens at the end of the season. One of the areas the club are reportedly looking to strengthen is in defence. And there is another new name to be linked in the last 24 hours. READ MORE: What would finishing sixth mean for Man United? European clarity amid fading
Champions League hopes READ MORE: Erik ten Hag sends message to Manchester United fans about tragedy chanting ahead of
Liverpool clash According to FootballTransfers , Aston Villa and
England defender Ezri Konsa is the latest to be added to a list for the summer. The centre-back has impressed during his time at Villa Park and made his England debut during the last international break. The report says that United first showed an interest in the defender last summer, but Villa were reluctant to sell and instead gave Konsa a new big-money contract which he signed back in September. United are said to retain their interest, even though Villa are likely to demand a high price for one of their key men. Unai Emery’s side could be forced into one big money sale in the summer due to the
Premier League ’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs). But United themselves will also have one eye on the rules, with the report saying that they’ll only be able to make big money signings if they generate enough money through sales. Elsewhere, journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that United have offered a new deal to highly-rated teenage winger Bendito Mentato. The deal will include a potential pact for a future pro-contract. Clubs will be able to sign the winger by paying a compensation fee, but the decision now lies with the player as to if he commits his future to United or moves on. The 16-year-old has scored five times and provided a further two assists in nine U18 Premier League games this season, and can play at left-back or right wing.
