Sarah Ferguson has pleaded with the public to give “time, space and privacy” in the wake of her shock announcement. The Duchess of York’s comments come after the Princess of stunned the world with a brave statement on Friday (March 22) announcing that she was undergoing “preventative chemotherapy”. The Duchess, who has also fought her own battle with the disease, said that “all of my thoughts and prayers” are with Kate. She added that she was “full of admiration” but was certain that the way Kate has handled it publicly will “do a tremendous amount of good to raise awareness. In her post on
Social Media, Sarah said: “All my thoughts and prayers are with the Princess of Wales as she starts her treatment. I know she will be surrounded by the love of her family and everyone is praying for the best outcome. “As someone who has faced their own battles with
cancer in recent months, I am full of admiration for the way she has spoken publicly about her diagnosis and know it will do a tremendous amount of good to raise awareness. I hope she will now be given the time, space and privacy to heal.” In January, a representative of the Duchess, 64, announced that she had been diagnosed with skin cancer. The statement read: "Following her diagnosis with an early form of breast cancer this summer, Sarah, Duchess of York has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma”. Kate’s announcement comes just months after King Charles also announced a cancer battle of his own. The 75-year-old is understood to be “ ” with how long his own recovery is taking. The comments come according to the King’s nephew, Peter Phillips, in an interview with Sky News Australia. He said: “He's frustrated that he can't get on and do everything that he wants to be able to do”. He added: “He is always pushing his staff and everybody - his doctors and nurses - to be able to say 'actually can I do this, can I do that?'"
