A Celebrity Big Brother legend reckons Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu's appearance on the show has "backfired" for her career. The
Love Island winner, 29, refused to turn up for the show's finale on Friday, later telling fans she was "protecting her boundaries" after a car crash appearance on CBB's sister show, Late & Live. Giving her take on the drama, which has kept fans gripped for weeks, Chantelle Houghton, 40, who stole the show as a non-celebrity back in 2006, says Ekin-Su's decision to go on the reality TV show was the "wrong one". Claiming the
Actress should have given CBB a wide berth, the mum-of-one, who also went on Ultimate Big Brother in 2010, said: "Ekin-Su definitely shouldn't have gone on that show. I do also think she’s obviously just split up with Davide [Sancilmenti], and she has struggled with the break up." Ekin-Su finally breaks silence on Celebrity Big Brother after pulling out of final Chantelle Houghton says Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu should never have gone on Celebrity Big Brother ( Image: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock) Ekin-Su had recently split with Davide Sanclimenti before going into the house ( Image: Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images) Despite issuing concern for the Dancing On Ice star, Chantelle believes not all is lost for Ekin-Su. Referencing Girls Aloud star Cheryl - whose career skyrocketed despite her violent altercation with a toilet attendant - the Big Brother legend said there was still hope for the actress, despite the drama of recent weeks. She told Spin Genie : "I do think it's backfired for Ekin-Su unfortunately, but it doesn't mean that she can't turn it around. People have done worse and then turned it around. As they said about Cheryl the other night, look how much she turned her career around." Ekin-Su stunned fans with her appearance on Late & Live earlier this month after being booted out of the house in an eviction, which saw her visibly shocked. Blaming ITV for "unfair editing", she told the panel, including
Strictly Come Dancing star, Layton Williams , the audience "didn't see everything". However, Ekin-Su faced a huge backlash from fans particularly after her nomination from Marisha Wallace when she burst into tears holding an enormous teddy bear, complaining people "always judge her for her looks". After her reported no-show on the Lorraine show the following Monday, it was reported Ekin-Su's management had "withdrawn" her from the finale on Friday. Taking to
Instagram the day after the star-studded show, the actress broke her silence, saying she had been "taking some time to reflect". She posted: "I know it’s unlike me to hide away, but I’ve been taking some time to reflect. Sometimes in our lowest moments, we learn the most important lessons about ourselves. I hope you don’t think I was selfish for setting boundaries and putting my own needs first last night. I’m fully aware that not everybody will understand my absence, or think it was the right decision to make, but it was the right decision for me." Revealing why she said "no" to the final, Ekin continued: "I chose to remove myself from a potentially uncomfortable situation that I preferred to avoid. I’m proud of myself for recognising what I need during this time, despite the hate that might come my way. Accountability is key and when I’m ready, I will give some context around these past few weeks. Thank you to everybody who has sent kindness my way, I see you, and I appreciate you. The new chapter starts now." She concluded: "I hope everybody enjoyed watching the CBB final. A huge congratulations to David for the win. Xx." The Mirror has contacted Ekin-Su's reps for comment.
