cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales, 42, announced on Friday that she had been diagnosed with the disease after major abdominal surgery in January. Dancing On Ice star Trisha, 66, was first diagnosed with breast cancer 15 years ago , and has since announced that she has secondary breast cancer , also known as metastatic or stage 4 breast cancer. Trisha’s cancer is incurable , but she is undergoing ‘life-prolonging’ treatment — and she had a warning for anyone discussing Kate’s diagnosis in the coming days and weeks. She noted that in Kate’s video message on Friday, ‘not once did she use the term battling cancer.’ ‘Most of us who live with it hate that,’ Trisha said. ‘How do you battle cancer? It’s stupid.’ She said society ‘once upon a time had language like that around mental health’ but had collectively learned and moved on, calling it ‘disgusting, it’s triggering.’ ‘We have to do better and grow the hell up,’ she declared. Trisha revealed in February that her cancer had returned, and made the decision to go public with her diagnosis as she ‘won’t hide anymore’. She told Hello! Magazine: ‘It’s not going to go away. And with that knowledge comes grief, and fear. You become less of a human and one big walking diagnosis.’ ‘I hope people who watch Catherine get the message that you can prevail, but you do need the right support.’ The Princess has been flooded with support from across the nation, including TV presenter Sarah Beeny, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. In a recent interview, Sarah shared her heartbreak for Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte, as she recalled having to tell her own children the news she had been diagnosed with cancer. She and her husband Graham are parents to four sons : Billy, 19, Charlie, 17, Rafferty, 15, and 12-year-old Laurie. Speaking to The Sun on Sunday , Sarah praised ‘incredible’ Kate for her ‘bravery and grace’ and said ‘I know she will get through this’. ‘But as a mum the first thing you think when you hear the C-word is, “My kids need me, I can’t leave my kids.”‘ Remembering telling her sons about her diagnosis, Sarah noted they were older, which made it ‘easier in a way,’ but Kate and William’s children are so young — ‘too young to fully understand.’ Good Morning
