Viewers defended this as play-fighting and Thomas was played the clip of the incident during his post-eviction interview, where he told host Emma Willis how scared he had been when the drama unfolded. The current series of Big Brother will enter its final week next week after five housemates faced the public vote this week in a double live eviction. Big Brother returned to TV screens in October this year after it was axed by Channel 5 amid a ratings slump in 2018. The reality show, which launched the showbiz careers of Jade Goody, Josie Gibson and Brian Dowling among others, ran for 18 years before it was taken off air. Channel 4 aired 11 series of the show, which was a huge ratings hit when it first launched, and concluded its run with a special all-stars edition called Ultimate Big Brother, which featured previous housemates. In 2011, Channel 5 acquired the rights to the show, running eight more series of the show before calling it a day. Alongside Celebrity Big Brother, other ITV reality commissions for 2024 include Love Island: All Stars, a second series of My Mum, Your Dad and the forthcoming The Fortune Hotel.
